Why Pallet Transfer Conveyors Matter

Improve Product Flow Between Workstations

Moving components manually between production stages can create inconsistent cycle times, unnecessary handling and work-in-progress delays. A properly designed pallet transfer system can help:

Move components between multiple workstations
Hold products in a consistent position
Stop and index pallets for assembly or inspection
Accumulate pallets without stopping the complete line
Route products to different operations
Connect manual, robotic and automated stations
Reduce repeated manual lifting and handling
Improve production flow and process consistency
Support traceability and quality-control systems
Allow future line extensions or layout changes
Manage products of different sizes using dedicated fixtures
Create compact rectangular, parallel or recirculating layouts

The correct system depends on the product, pallet, fixture, total moving load, process sequence, required positioning and available floor space.

Compact Belt Transfer / Up to 2 kg

TLM 1000 Compact Pallet Transfer System

The TLM 1000 is a compact modular transfer system for moving small workpieces between manual and automatic production stations. Two parallel belts move the workpiece pallets. Stops, indexing devices and direction-changing modules can be added according to the line sequence. Elcom identifies the TLM 1000 for loads up to 2 kg per pallet in its standard configuration, using 105 ร— 105 mm or 105 ร— 155 mm pallets.

Modular Chain Transfer / Up to 10 kg

TR Chain Pallet Transfer System

The TR system uses a robust modular architecture for moving workpieces mounted on dedicated pallets. Its construction makes it suitable for industrial environments where strength, configurability and easy line modification are important. Elcom specifies pallet loads up to 10 kg for standard TR configurations, subject to pallet size and system design.

Typical Applications

Essential Pallet Conveyor Modules

A complete pallet transfer system combines standard function modules to control workpiece movement. This includes pneumatic pallet stops, high-precision positioning & indexing units, accumulation buffers, 90ยฐ/180ยฐ lift-and-transfer units, and vertical lifts for multi-level return loops.

Typical Applications

Pneumatic pallet stops
High-precision indexing units
Pallet accumulation buffers
90ยฐ & 180ยฐ lift-and-transfer units
Vertical pallet return lifts
Closed-loop recirculating lines
Workpiece Holding & Location

Product Fixtures and Pallet Tooling

The pallet carries a dedicated fixture designed around the workpiece. The fixture must locate the component securely without obstructing assembly, testing, inspection or robotic access. Fixture design accounts for product size, center of gravity, clamping, operator clearance, robot tool clearance, and rapid product changeover.

Typical Applications

Precision workpiece location
Dedicated assembly fixtures
Mechanical & pneumatic clamping
Sensor & camera clear-view fixtures
Multi-part pallet carriers
RFID & barcode tag integration

How We Select the Right Pallet Transfer System

Conveyor Selection Starts with the Product and Process Flow

Conveyor selection should begin with the product and process flowโ€”not only the required conveyor length. A process-flow diagram and preliminary layout help identify whether a TLM 1000, TR, TRM, TM or another Elcom transfer configuration is appropriate. Our team considers:

Product dimensions and weight
Fixture weight and construction
Total load carried by each pallet
Pallet dimensions
Number and type of workstations
Manual and automatic operations
Required pallet speed and cycle time
Accumulation requirement
Positioning and indexing accuracy
Conveyor layout and direction changes
Return-path arrangement
Available floor space
Working height and operator access
Robot, sensor and tooling integration
Control-system requirements
Dust, oil, moisture and temperature
Maintenance access
Future product and production changes
New Lines, Extensions and Conveyor Retrofits

Orbital Mekatronik supports pallet transfer requirements for:

New assembly lines
Special-purpose machines
Manual-to-automatic production upgrades
Robotic cell integration
Inspection and testing lines
Existing-line extensions
Conveyor layout modifications
Product changeover projects
Production-capacity expansion
Replacement of existing transfer equipment

For faster evaluation, share the product drawing, product and fixture weight, process sequence, station details, required cycle time, available layout, pallet quantity and automation requirements. A transfer system can be integrated with PLCs, sensors, RFID, robots, vision, screwdriving, and safety devices.
